The HP OMEN 16 Slim RTX 5060 Intel Ultra 9-285H 240Hz QHD+ RGB Gaming Laptop is a compelling entry in HP’s renowned OMEN lineup, combining a slim chassis with high-end internals designed for both competitive gaming and productivity. Bundled with a Thunderobot 7-in-1 USB-C Hub and featuring a 16-inch anti-glare QHD+ display, HyperX audio, 16GB DDR5 memory, a 1TB SSD, a 4-zone RGB backlit keyboard, Wi-Fi 6E, and Windows 11 Home, this machine aims to deliver a premium experience without unnecessary bulk. Below is a detailed breakdown of its specifications, features, and overall design based solely on the provided product information.

Performance: Intel Ultra 9 and RTX 5060 Power

At the heart of the laptop is the Intel Core Ultra 9 285H processor. This CPU features 16 cores and 16 threads, with 24 Intel Smart Cache and a base clock speed of 2.9 GHz, scaling up to 5.4 GHz with Turbo Boost. The architecture is built for an “elite refresh,” offering efficient multitasking and high clock speeds for demanding workloads. Paired with this is the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 graphics card with 8GB of GDDR7 memory. The RTX 5060 brings advanced GPU capabilities suitable for modern gaming titles and creative applications, supported by the laptop’s advanced cooling system to maintain performance under load.

The combination of a 16-core Intel Ultra 9 and a dedicated RTX 5060 GPU positions the OMEN 16 Slim as a capable performer for 1080p and QHD+ gaming, as well as video editing and 3D rendering. The product description highlights an “elite refresh” and “advanced cooling,” suggesting HP has tuned the thermal design to sustain clock speeds during extended sessions.

Memory and Storage

The laptop is equipped with 16GB of DDR5 high-bandwidth RAM. This allows users to smoothly run multiple applications and browser tabs simultaneously—ideal for streamers, students, and professionals who keep numerous programs open. Storage is handled by a 1TB PCIe NVMe M.2 Solid State Drive, enabling fast bootup times and rapid data transfer. While 16GB is sufficient for most current games and productivity tasks, the DDR5 standard ensures future compatibility and speed headroom.

Display: 16” QHD+ at 240Hz

The display is a 16-inch diagonal WQXGA (2560×1600) IPS panel with a 240 Hz refresh rate. This QHD+ resolution provides sharp visuals and extra vertical space compared to standard 16:9 panels, while the 240 Hz refresh ensures ultra-smooth motion in fast-paced shooters and racing games. An anti-glare coating reduces reflections, making the screen usable in brightly lit rooms. The micro-edge design maximizes screen-to-body ratio, contributing to the “slim” profile of the notebook.

Connectivity and Ports

The OMEN 16 Slim includes a practical selection of I/O:

• 3 x SuperSpeed USB Type-A
• 1 x SuperSpeed USB Type-C
• 1 x HDMI
• 1 x RJ-45 (Ethernet)
• 1 x Headphone/Microphone Combo

Wireless connectivity features Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth, delivering low-latency networking and broad peripheral support. The inclusion of RJ-45 is a plus for wired LAN gaming stability.

Keyboard, Audio, and Extras

A 4-zone RGB backlit keyboard (toggled via Fn+F4) offers customizable lighting across four regions, paired with a numeric keypad for data entry. HP includes HyperX Audio, leveraging the gaming audio brand’s tuning for clearer sound output through built-in speakers or connected headsets.

Software-wise, the laptop ships with Windows 11 Home, presenting a refreshed UI, improved window layout options, performance enhancements, Android app compatibility, and a curated gaming selection. HP’s OMEN Gaming Hub is present, providing system control through “Unleashed Mode” for maximum performance and “OMEN AI” for automated optimization. These utilities let users monitor thermals, customize RGB, and tweak power profiles.

Design and Bundle

The “Slim” nomenclature indicates a thinner form factor than many 16-inch gaming laptops, aided by the micro-edge display and efficient internal layout. The product imagery underscores a clean, modern chassis with venting for the advanced cooling solution.

The included bundle is a Thunderobot 7-in-1 USB-C Hub, offering high-speed data transmission and stable expansion for additional peripherals—useful given the laptop’s native port count.
